Travel to the San Juan Islands Take the Washington State Ferry from Anacortes, WA or Victoria, B.C. to Friday Harbor.
If you're coming from SeaTac Airport or Seattle, you have other ways of getting here than by car. Bellair Charters offers bus service directly from baggage claim to the Anacortes ferry terminal. Air service to the island is also available from Kenmore Air, with daily flights from Seattle to the Friday Harbor Airport and Lake Union to the Port of Friday Harbor by seaplane. The Victoria Clipper Ferry travels daily during the summer months directly from Seattle to San Juan Island as well. NOTE: As of March 20, the Victoria Clipper will NOT be running a daily ferry between Seattle and Friday Harbor for the 2009 season. Their ferry will instead be used by the U.S. Navy for the summer; you can see their letter about this here. Once on San Juan Island bicycles and mopeds are available for rent. You can rent bicycles at Island Bicycle, just a short distance from Argyle House. If you'd rather be motorized, you can rent mopeds and scooters from Suzie's Mopeds, again just a short distance away. Summer shuttle service is available from San Juan Transit, and car rentals from M&W Auto can be arranged. If you'd rather travel by taxi, you can reserve one through a number of taxi services. Boat charters are also available from many sources. If you'd like to see the islands by air, Westwind Aviation offers several scenic tour packages and plane rentals. If your taste runs more to turn-of-the-last-century travel, you can also do horseback riding at Horseshu Ranch, just a few minutes from Argyle House. |
